When you’re buying a home, you don’t buy anything without getting a tour of it. You want to look at it, judge its quality and durability. You want to envision how you would live in it. You look at other homes as well, especially if it’s your first time buying a home. You need something to compare. You need to see what’s better and worse, what you envision working out or getting in the way. The same is true for many aspects of your business, including outdoor digital signage.
Avoiding Many Forms of Weather Wear
Outdoor digital signage displays are exposed to a number of elements that indoor solutions aren’t. They’re hit with wind, rain, snow, water will freeze and thaw, and hot, humid summers will test them. Most digital signage is made to endure this very capably. Just make sure you don’t forget about visibility.
In talking about the weather, we sometimes forget about the impact of nice, calm, sunny days. Is your outdoor digital signage still visible when the sun glares on it. Does that visibility wear down over time as it’s exposed to the sun day after day. Sometimes it’s not blizzards, wind, and rain that does the most damage. Sometimes it’s just sun exposure.
Learn from Others’ Successes
This is one of the most important reasons to look at other business’s outdoor digital signage displays. Have theirs endured, are they still clearly visible? Have they done something to minimize sun exposure? How much to north-south facings help versus east-west facings?
You can likely see a good number of examples of outdoor digital signage without leaving your immediate area. Take notes that specify what you do and don’t like. When you talk to CES as a digital signage expert, ask us questions about those notes. What can we do, what would we recommend?
